Depending on your starting point, there are several options for traveling to the captivating island of Koh Chang in the Gulf of Thailand. Here are some of the most common ways to reach this tropical paradise:
- Domestic Flight: Take a domestic flight from Bangkok to Trat Airport (TDX). It is the closest airport to Koh Chang and costs around 3,000 Baht. Bangkok Airways is the only airline providing this service, flying from Suvarnabhumi Airport to Trat Airport.
- From Trat Airport to Koh Chang: After landing at Trat Airport, you can take a taxi or pre-arrange a transfer to the Laem Ngop pier. From there, you can catch a ferry to Koh Chang. The ferry takes approximately 30 minutes per trip.
- Bus from Bangkok to Trat: Take a bus from the Eastern Bus Terminal (Ekamai) in Bangkok to Trat. Buses are available throughout the day, and the journey takes around 5-6 hours, depending on traffic. (The fare is approximately 250 Baht per person)
- From Trat to Koh Chang: Once you reach Trat, you can take a shared taxi to Laem Ngop pier. From there, take a ferry to Koh Chang. From the pier to the resort, transport time is approximately 30 minutes on vehicle.

From Suvarnabhumi Airport to Koh Chang: Suvarnabhumi Burapha VIP buses link to Koh Chang. It is a first-class, air-conditioned, VIP coach that runs two times every day. At exit number 8 on the first floor of Suvarnabhumi Airport, there are service counters for buses.

When you arrive on Koh Chang, take a shared taxi to the resort, It will cost you 100 Baht per person.
The best time to visit Koh Chang is during the dry season, generally from November to April. During this period, you can expect sunny and warm weather with minimal rainfall, making it ideal for beach activities and outdoor exploration.
- Dry Season (November to April): This is considered the peak tourist season and the most popular time to visit. The weather is generally dry, and temperatures range from 25°C to 35°C (77°F to 95°F). The sea is calm and clear, perfect for swimming, snorkeling, and diving. It's advisable to book accommodations in advance, as the island can get crowded during this period.
- Rainy Season (May to October): This period is characterized by higher humidity and increased rainfall. While it's the off-peak season, some travelers still visit Koh Chang during this time, as the island's lush greenery is at its best. The rain showers are often short-lived, and there are still activities like jungle treks and waterfalls to enjoy. However, some boat services and water activities may be limited due to the weather conditions.
